ARRESTED: Aggravated Robbery; Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity

On Tuesday February 7, 2017, Officers responded to the 3500 block of FM 802, in reference to an aggravated robbery. Contact was made with the victim who stated two male suspects; one armed with a baseball bat walked into the store demanding money. One of the suspects was swinging the bat striking counters and displays demanding the money. Victim fearing for his safety opened the cash register. One of the suspects reached over and took approximately $60.00. Victim stated the suspects were wearing black with grey hoody sweaters, pants and bandanas. Both suspects exited the store and ran towards Old Port Isabel Rd. Witness observed the two males running towards Old Port Isabel Rd. then turned south towards Jaime Zapata Road. Witness advised he observed both males run into the trailer park area and within seconds observed a grey Mustang drive out onto Old Port Isabel Rd. with no headlights and head towards Jaime Zapata Road. Responding Officer spotted the suspect vehicle as it pulled into 3600 block of Jaime Zapata Road. Officer made contact with three male subjects; two of them match the description of the suspects for the aggravated robbery. Sweaters, bandana and an aluminum baseball bat were found in the Mustang. Victim positively identified the clothing, the bat and two of the subjects. All three males were placed under arrested for aggravated robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity. Males were later identified as Joe Ivan Magana, Daniel Rolando Pizana Tovar and a juvenile subject. Tovar was also charged with possession of control substance (xanax, cocaine and marijuana). Case remains under investigation.
